closed, robbie need you like water in my lungs Juno took a drag from the cigarette she held between her fingers. She was half sitting, half lying, on one of the couches in the entrance to Franklin High. There was a male member of staff, who she knew was called Brad, was busy glaring at the back of her head, but she ignored him, pretending she hadn't noticed he was there. It was hard not to notice Brad, as he was over six foot tall and about five foot wide.
She breathed out a cloud of smoke, deliberately, and Brad grunted behind her. She turned her head and smiled sweetly at the huge man standing by the doorway, almost like a bouncer outside a club, who was now glaring at the cigarette in Juno's hand. Not in the mood for a lecture about smoking on site and putting off visitors, though Juno often wondered who in the right mind would visit here, as all the patients were clearly in the wrong mind, but still, she took another drag, then put the cigarette out, flicking the end onto the floor. Brad glared at her, but she made no move to pick it up. Too lazy to do it himself, Brad glared at Juno for another minute, but was unable to find anything else to grunt about, and so he left, leaving Juno alone in the entrance.
Juno wondered if Brad could do anything but grunt and glare, though most probably not. He wasn't the brightest crayon in the box. Flicking her little pink lighter on, she pulled another cigarette out of the box that rested on the arm of the couch, and lit it, lifting it to her lips and taking a drag.
Swinging her feet up onto the couch, she was glad Brad had gone. Today, she wore a gray top, coupled with a pair of tight blue jeans. A blue hat sat on her orange hair, and a pair of high heeled shoes, a matching blue, were on her feet. The heels of her shoes would probably make a mark on the couch, but Juno didn't care. It would just match the other marks left there by other patients. A cigeratte sat between her fingers, which ended in short, bitten nails, painted black. In the other hand, she held the light, which she flicked on and off, watching the small flame dance.
Juno saw no reason as to why she couldn't smoke in the entrance. The staff said it would create a bad impression. This amused Juno, as anyone who'd ever heard of Fanklin High wouldn't have a good impression, and anyone who was 'visiting' would be a patient, and the likelihood of getting out after you were admitted was low. Moving the packet, which was almost full, only missing two or three cigarettes, she rested it on her stomach. Patients had been known to steal cigarettes, though no one had stole any from Juno, she wasn't about to give anyone opportunity.

Robbie searched around his pocket for his lighter, and reached for a cigarette in his other. He threw the lighter up in the air, caught it and flicked it on like a professional. Robbie lit his cigarette and took a long drag, placing his black lighter back in his pocket. He walked into Franklin High's entrance for some unknown reason, and took a look around. It was obvious that the staff didn't want anybody enjoying themselves here. It was a pretty basic room: a few plant-pots were dotted around here and there, all of them wilting from lack of water. The rug that lay on the floor looked old and disgusting, but obviously the staff couldn't be bothered to change it. The couches were pretty bland, but the patients had come to expect this kind of treatment.
Robbie released a cloud of smoke into the air, and saw an enormous member of staff look in his direction. Robbie looked at his name tag - Brad. He really was huge, both ways. Easily over six feet tall. Robbie knew he shouldn't get on his bad side, but he wasn't planning on putting his cigarette out. Simply to annoy Brad, he closed his eyes and took another drag. Robbie heard him grunt in disapproval, and then he left. Opening his eyes, Robbie let out a sigh of relief and walked further into the entrance.
Today, Robbie had decided to go with a casual look. He wore a dark red top, with a dragon silhouetted on it, with his favorite black combat pants and his converses on his feet. A black satchel was slung over his shoulder. His hair was in no particular style, simply straightened and then left to do as it pleased. Robbie was OK with that, so he didn't fuss about his hair very often. Some-days however, he would freak out about it, because it simply wouldn't do what Robbie wanted. Today wasn't one of those days, so he was relatively happy with his appearance.
As he walked closer to the entrance's couches, he noticed someone lying on one of them. The first thing that hit Robbie about this person was the hair - a very bright orange color. Robbie smiled, there was only one person he knew with hair that color. Juno. She was easily one of Robbie's best, and only friends. They even went out for a time, but they ended it on good terms, so they were still pretty good friends. He walked to the couch until he was right behind it. "Hey, you." He said through a smile. Robbie walked round to the other side of the couch, and moved Juno's feet so he could sit down. He took one long, final drag of his cigarette, and put it out, throwing it onto the floor. "How are you?" Robbie asked, settling himself on the couch.

need you like water in my lungs Juno looked behind her again as someone spoke, hopefully not Brad back, speaking for the first time in his life. But the voice was familiar, and she smiled when Robbie moved her feet and sat down at the other end of the couch. Robbie was a close friend, they had even gone out for a while, then ended on quite good terms. It was easier for the pair to be friends than go out, Juno had found. She put her feet back down where they had been, though now that meant they were resting on top of Robbie's legs. Juno figured he wouldn't mind, so long as her heels didn't dig into him, which she made sure they weren't.
'Hey Bobbo,' she laughed. Bobbo was a nickname she had given Robbie, quite a while ago, when they first met, and one that had stuck in her head. She refused to stop calling him Bobbo, as the name made her giggle, and she didn't think he minded all that much. 'I'm good,' she smiled. 'I was in desperate need of a cigarette, but Brad left so now yeah, I'm good. She took another drag, and a small trail of smoke left her mouth as she breathed it out.
'How about you?' Juno flickered her lighter again, the flame flickered. She watched it. The little flame on her various different lighters had always fascinated her, and she enjoyed flicking it on and off. She wasn't the type of person that would go around burning things just because, but Juno wasn't one to turn anything down. She was already in Franklin High, there wasn't much place worse they could send her. This helped her life the life she lived, getting high and getting drunk at every opportunity, and smoking like a chimney. Sure, it was knocking years off her life, but it wasn't like she had much to live for. Party hard and party now, that was Juno's motto. Worked well enough in theory, and that was good enough for her.

Just as Robbie had settled himself on the couch, Juno placed her feet back where they originally were, which meant they were now resting on Robbie's legs. The two of them were very close, so this didn't bother him in the slightest. He put his arms over them, holding them in position, and stuck his tongue out at Juno. Robbie looked around him, wondering how much money was spent in decorating this place. He knew it wouldn't have been much - the staff didn't care about the patients as much as they wanted the outside world to think.
'Hey Bobbo,'
Robbie laughed. He did anytime Juno called him that. Everyone else he knew would just call him Rob, but Robbie also knew that Juno wasn't like the other people he knew. The nickname didn't bother him, he liked it actually. It was his favorite thing to be called - apart from his real name of course. His favorite nickname from one of his favorite people. Robbie smiled - it worked out pretty well.
'I'm good. I was in desperate need of a cigarette, but Brad left so now yeah, I'm good.'
Robbie smiled and nodded. Even though he hadn't spoke to Brad before, he knew he didn't like him. He remembered the way he looked at him when he was smoking, how he grunted in disapproval. Robbie hated him already, and he wanted so much for him to walk back him, so Robbie could light another cigarette and blow the smoke right in his face. Robbie was slightly amazed at himself - he could be really evil when he wanted to be.
'How about you?'
Robbie smiled as Juno asked him in return, and he watched her flick her lighter on and off for a while. He shook his head, then spoke up. "Yeah, I'm good. But I've just realized I haven't had a cigarette for about two minutes." Robbie stuck his tongue out, then took out his black lighter. Once again, he threw it upwards, watched it flip in the air and then caught it expertly. He was quite pleased with himself, as Juno hadn't seen him do it the first time. Robbie took out a cigarette from his pocket, lit it and took a long drag. He breathed out, watching the cloud of smoke dissolve into the air. "So, what have you been up to?" He asked her. He rolled the cigarette between his fingers, watching small pieces of it fly off.

need you like water in my lungs Juno laughed at Robbie when he said he hadn't had a cigarette for about two minutes. Juno wasn't that addicted, she could go a couple of hours, though she usually didn't. It annoyed the staff more if she smoked more often, plus then there wasn't going to be that awful craving phase, which Juno disliked. It was easy to ignore cravings when they first started, but pretty soon Juno would get desperate, and that was not an image she liked.
She laughed again as Robbie threw his lighter up and caught it again. She wouldn't try and do that with her lighter, as she'd just drop it. Robbie clearly had far too much time on his hands if he could practise doing things like that, even if they did make Juno laugh. 'Bobbo dear, you have far too much time on your hands.' She flicked her lighter again, watching the flame. Much more entertaining for her than practising throwing it around. It was a lot easier too, to just watch the flickering flame dance around. Minimum effort, that was always good.
'What have I been up to? Not a lot...the usual, parties, alcohol, drugs, cigarettes. You know the drill.' She smiled at him. 'What about you, anything interesting?' Juno didn't have much to talk about, nothing much out of the usual had happened to her. Of course, her idea of 'the usual' was quite different to a more normal persons idea of the phrase, but Juno had never been normal and never intended to start. Franklin High was not the most ideal place on the planet to start being normal, as it was full of people who were the exact opposite. Thinking about it, here, Juno wasn't much different from the normal. In the real world, she was totally different, but she wasn't in the real world, and she didn't plan on going back there for a long time yet.

'Bobbo dear, you have far too much time on your hands.'
Robbie laughed at Juno's words. But she was right - he always had free time on his hands. Robbie didn't have many friends at Franklin High, and he wasn't the type of person who went to lots of parties. So most of his time consisted of him being alone somewhere, drawing or smoking. Or both. Robbie was very passionate about drawing. He had loved it back in his normal life, when he chose to do art in further education. It started off great, Robbie's skills improved all the time and he was making friends within the class at the same time. But that was when he was thrown into Franklin High. All of his past life was taken away from him, and Robbie was forced to start a new life here. Robbie had to admit that it was going better than he thought it would - he knew he would always have Juno to talk to.
"Of course I have too much time on my hands." Robbie said, in perfect imitation of Juno. He stuck his tongue out to show he was only joking, then continued. "I don't have many friends here, and you know I'm not really a party person, so I always have time with me." Robbie finished speaking and looked downwards, slightly hating himself for being as shy as he was. Juno really was the only real friend he had in this place - the rest of the patients were simply strangers to him. If new people spoke to him first, then Robbie would probably make an effort to be civil to that person. But if they didn't, he felt that he shouldn't have to make the effort either.
'What have I been up to? Not a lot...the usual, parties, alcohol, drugs, cigarettes. You know the drill.'
Robbie smiled and nodded - that sounded about right for Juno. He took some time to think about something she had said - drugs. Robbie had used drugs in the past, but he had stopped since he came to Franklin High. It took him a while to get clean, as both his mother and father were drug dealers and addicts themselves. He had went to a private sanctuary, away from them, for two months, and came out of it clean, not needing drugs anymore. But then he turned to alcohol and cigarettes.
'What about you, anything interesting?'
Robbie laughed. "Me? Interesting? No, nothing interesting ever happens to me. I've just been working on my drawings quite a bit recently." He took a drag of his cigarette, then took his notebook out of his satchel. The book contained all the drawings he had drawn, and all of the songs he had begun to write. Robbie dropped it onto Juno's lap.
"Take a look." Robbie said through a smile.

need you like water in my lungs Juno rolled her eyes as Robbie went to his shy side. She gave him a nudge with one of her feet, making sure her heel poked him, sticking her tongue back out at the same time. She knew he was quite a shy person, but he'd never seemed it to her. Maybe because she put the effort in to get to know thnewest addition to the gluttony gang back when he first came here, or maybe because Juno liked the look of him, or maybe some completely different reason, but Juno and Robbie were quite close, and Juno never knew Robbie to be shy, at least not to her.
'Next party, I'm dragging you along. And before you ask, no, you have no say in the matter. You need to get to know people! You aren't a sloth.' Juno used the word sloth as if it were an insult, which, coming from her, it was. The sloths were depressive, and loners. They annoyed Juno, as she was quite outgoing, and fun. She saw no need to be so depressed, all of the time.
Juno knew Robbie was clean, though he had been on drugs before he came to Franklin High. She wasn't going to be the one to lead him back down that road, not if he didn't want it. Some patients assumed that a gluttony party would always involve drugs. Usually, it did. But just because there was drugs there, didn't mean you had to take them. Juno wasn't going to make Robbie do that, though she did wonder if he thought going to a party with her meant doing drugs. It didn't, though she didn't say anything.
When Robbie put the book on her lap, she picked it up and, putting her lighter on her stomach next to the packet of cigarettes, she opened the book, looking at the first page. It had a drawing on, one that had obviously taken rather a lot of time. Turning the pages, Juno saw that there were a lot of drawings that had taken a lot of time, and very detailed, and ocourse, good drawings. Robbie was a good drawer, she knew he'd have taken art had he not got sent to Franklin High. There were also half written songs, and from the half that Juno could read, they were good songs too. Robbie clearly had a talent, though whether it was at being anti social or a more artistic one, Juno was yet to decide.
'Wow Bobbo, this stuff is good. How on earth do you find the time to do this shit?' Juno didn't mean shit as in the stuff was bad, just her way of saying things. She guessed he'd understand, as he usually did. Juno wasn't jealous, she knew she wasn't good at drawing, and was limited to stick people. She didn't have a problem with that, because she knew she was good at other stuff. Like getting drunk.

Robbie caught a glimpse of Juno rolling her eyes at him, and didn't say anything. He knew why she had done it - Robbie's shy side was coming out again. Everybody used to tell him that he was too shy for his own good, and it was clear to him that sometimes Juno thought as well. He didn't blame her - Robbie felt the same way about it. He wanted to overcome his shyness, but it was very hard to take that first step. After what Robbie had been through in the past, he had gotten used to not needing people in his life. But maybe being at Franklin High could change all of that.
'Next party, I'm dragging you along. And before you ask, no, you have no say in the matter. You need to get to know people! You aren't a sloth.'
Robbie couldn't help but laugh at Juno's words. But she was right - he wasn't a sloth, and he didn't want to become one anytime soon. "You're right. I'll come to the next party - it'll be good for me to socialize." He took a drag of his cigarette, and flicked the end of it onto the floor. Robbie watched it scatter into pieces, then looked across at Juno as she picked his notebook up.
Robbie didn't know why he was nervous about what Juno thought of his work. He knew he shouldn't be, because it wasn't a stranger looking through his work - it was Juno. Maybe it was because he only showed that notebook to people he thought to be his friends, and it was very important to him. Whenever times were hard on Robbie, he would open it up and create a new song, or do another drawing, so it was pretty full. He knew he would have to get a new one soon, but he would always keep the old one as a memory. Robbie was really proud of some of those drawings, so he wasn't about to throw it away anytime in the near future. He took another drag of his cigarette, and clicked his fingers to the beat of one of his made up songs.
'Wow Bobbo, this stuff is good. How on earth do you find the time to do this shit?'
Robbie smiled. He knew she didn't mean shit in a bad way. "Thanks, and as I said before, not much happens to me, so I always have time to draw and write." He took hold of his notebook and quickly flicked through it's pages, his smile widening as he got further and further into it. Then he remembered he wasn't alone, so he shook his head, and put the notebook back into his satchel. He closed it, and rested his head on the back of the couch. The couch wasn't particularly comfortable, but it didn't bother Robbie - he was used to it.
"So whens the next party?" He asked Juno. Robbie figured that she would know, seeing as she was the leader of the gluttony gang. He took a drag of his cigarette, and blew out a cloud of black smoke, watching it dance it's way through the air.

need you like water in my lungs juno smiled as robbie agreed to come to the next party she found. being the gluttony leader, there was really a party going down she didn't know about, whether she was told or whether she found out, she usually made it her business to go to as many parties as possible, and the partiers were usually too drunk or high to care.
she laughed out loud when he said he had plenty of free time to draw and write, it was certainly true, though not for much longer if she had anything to do with it. robbie definitely needed a good party, and a hell of a lot of alcohol in his system. after all, to juno, that's what this place was all about. getting drunk and getting high, there was nothing better in her opinion. she let go of the book as robbie took it off her, and watched him flick through the pages, clearly quietly proud of his work. with good reason, juno smiled to herself.
'next party? bobbo dear, there's a party going down almost every night. it's whether or not you want to be in the crowd that's going. i mean, if the wraths held a party, you wait for them to get wasted before showing, whereas if it was the prides, you can usually crash theirs without too much trouble. sloths are the best to crash, they don't care at all.'
she paused, trying to think when the next gluttony-friendly party would be. raking her mind, she nodded her head to her thoughts. 'i think i'm good for tomorrow night, to be honest. you up for it?' she wasn't entirely expecting a yes, as tomorrow night was a bit soon for someone who didn't really socialize much to begin with.

Robbie smiled as he listened to Juno's laughing. It was true, Robbie did have far too much time on his hands, and after drawing and writing, he had pretty much nothing to do. He knew that all it took to change that was a good party, and it was obvious to Robbie that Juno would know when the next one was going down. He took a drag of his cigarette, shrugging off his satchel and putting it down on the floor next to him.
'next party? bobbo dear, there's a party going down almost every night.'
Robbie laughed. "Bobbo dear," now that was a new nickname. He was surprised to here how often parties went on, and at the fact that he never even knew that they were happening. Robbie wondered what he would be doing as those parties were taking place. All of those people would be laughing and enjoying themselves, and he would be stuck alone in his room, all because of how naturally shy he was. Robbie was determined to change that, so he focused on Juno for now, and waited for her to say more.
it's whether or not you want to be in the crowd that's going. i mean, if the wraths held a party, you wait for them to get wasted before showing, whereas if it was the prides, you can usually crash theirs without too much trouble.'
Robbie was slightly shocked at Juno's knowledge. She must have crashed many a party in the past. Still, Robbie understood what she meant, you couldn't just stroll right into the middle of a wrath party. But the prides were different, Robbie knew because he had observed people from different cliques before, and how they react to the other cliques. He wondered if any of the two groups particularly liked the Gluttony gang being at their party, but he figured that they would all be too drunk to care.
'sloths are the best to crash, they don't care at all.'
Robbie smiled and nodded - that was pretty obvious. The sloths were lazy, and it seemed like they were fed up with life most of the time. So you could easily make your way into one of their parties, Robbie thought. He had learned a lot from Juno today. For once, Robbie thought, smirking to himself.
'i think I'm good for tomorrow night, to be honest. you up for it?'
"Yeah, OK. If I'm going to come out of my shell I may as well start straight away, right?" Robbie said. He took a drag of his cigarette, feeling more confident already.

need you like water in my lungs juno laughed as robbie said he might as well come out of his shell straight away. he was a good kid, fun to be about and nice to talk to. he didn't really deserve to be here, he could probably have had a life had he not got sent here. but if he was going to come out of his shell, then at least he'd have more friends than only juno. juno certainly didn't mind having robbie all to herself, but she knew he needed more than one friend. parties were generally good places to hit it off with people, since alcohol and drugs tended to make people looser and easier to talk to.
'right!' she agreed, still laughing. at least robbie was enthusiastic about it. juno wouldn't have liked to think she forced him to go to a party, maybe someone else but not robbie. he was a pretty deicate guy, in her eyes, though she'd never say that to him. 'okay, so it's not a gluttony party, it's the sloths thing. so it won't be too wild, yeah?' that was one of the reasons she'd picked tomorrow night, as she knew it was the sloths, and that was probably the best place to start.
'so yeah, tomorrow,' she smiled, taking another drag. she'd tried to make her cigarette last as long as possible, but that hadn't really worked. she pushed it into the arm of the couch, twisting until it went out fully, then flicked the stub onto the floor, to join the other cigarette ends that already lay there.
'this place needs a bloody good clean, don't you think? health inspector would have a fit. actually, that would be fun.' trailing off, juno imagined a health inspector caring enough to come check out franklin high, and then imagining his reaction to the place. definitely a fit, juno could see it now. in fact, she had half a mind to report the place to someone, just to see the reaction. 'gosh, just imagine.'

'right!'
Robbie nodded as Juno agreed, and raised one of his hands into a salute. He didn't keep it there long, as he was laughing too much. He stuck his tongue out at Juno, and looked down at the floor. The amount of cigarette ends that lay rotting down there were almost un-countable. A few of them were still glowing, obviously because of Robbie and Juno. Robbie rubbed out a few of them with the bottom of his shoe, and then kicked his satchel. It felt awkward to Robbie not having his satchel slung over his shoulder, it hardly ever left that position. He gave it one last look, and then looked up to his cigarette, which was now pathetically small. Tutting to himself, Robbie blew the end of it out, and threw it down onto the floor, making sure his satchel was left unharmed.
'okay, so it's not a gluttony party, it's the sloths thing. so it won't be too wild, yeah?'
Robbie nodded, and thought about it for a while. A sloth party. He knew that it would probably be the best place to start, seeing as the sloths were lazy to start with, not to mention they would be drunk and or high at a party. Parties were also good places to socialize, as most people didn't care who they spoke to at a party. Robbie was excited. He knew he shouldn't be, for someone his age parties should be a normal thing. But Robbie had accepted that he was not a normal person, so he really was looking forward to this party. He knew it would be good for him, to change his ways. But if it wasn't for Juno, Robbie wouldn't be going.
'so yeah, tomorrow,'
Robbie let out a small laugh. He reached into his pocket, and pulled out his lighter and a cigarette. He flicked the lighter on, admired the flame for a moment and lit his cigarette, this time not bothering to flip his lighter up into the air. Robbie stuffed the lighter back deep into his pocket, and took a long, satisfying drag of the cigarette. He exhaled, letting loose a battalion of black smoke at the same time. The smoke didn't bother him, and he was pretty sure it wouldn't bother Juno either.
'this place needs a bloody good clean, don't you think? health inspector would have a fit. actually, that would be fun. gosh, just imagine.'
He tried to hold it back, but Robbie couldn't help but laugh out loud. He knew he should be used to this sort of thing from Juno, but he reacted the same each time. "We should definitely report this place some time." Robbie agreed. He smiled, and took another drag of his cigarette, enjoying the day more than he thought he would.

need you like water in my lungs juno laughed even harder as robbie saluted, if that was possible. it was good to have fun in franklin high, as it made the whole place bearable. sure, parties were fun, but juno liked a good laugh with a good friend too. after all, laughter was good for the soul, or something else that sounded equally silly. she managed to stop laughing as robbie flicked his cigarette onto the floor and lit another one.
'god bobbo, stop smoking sometime,' she joked, poking him with her toe. she smoked herself, obviously, but not as much as robbie. it seemed to juno that robbie almost constantly had a cigarette in his hand, whereas juno could go for a while without a smoke. though hanging around with robbie meant she got a lot of second hand smoke, and that usually helped calm her cravings down for a while. the smoke didn't bother her at all, as she knew she made a lot herself when she smoked, usually intentionally.
of course, once robbie started laughing at her comment on a health inspector, juno soon joined in. she seemed to be in a laughing mood today, more so than usual. 'we should! imagine brad's face...golly, that would be one angry grunt!' she laughed again, at her own joke, how lame of her. but hey, someone had to laugh at it, and she usually ended up laughing at herself, as she just wasn't funny to other people. 'but i think we should save the health inspector the trouble and continue pissing brad off ourselves.' juno took a deep breath or two to calm herself down, and managed again to stop laughing. for now, anyway.

Robbie laughed at the reaction his salute got from Juno. In a place like Franklin High, laughter was one of the few good things that the patients had. Robbie realized that he had to hold onto the friends he had, because a persons' personality could be crushed entirely in here. But he had survived so far, with help from certain people, especially Juno.
'god bobbo, stop smoking sometime,'
Robbie laughed, and held up his cigarette. "Oh, I could go without this one," he began. "But it's such an easy way to piss the staff off, so why not?" He finished, giggling some more. Just in-case the cigarette actually was bothering Juno, he twisted it out and threw it onto the floor, watching sparks fly off it to join the others already down there. Robbie totally agreed with Juno - this place could do with a damn good clean. It was in an appalling condition, and that was just this room. The entrance was the room that was in the best condition, so everywhere else was in an even worse state. It was shocking to Robbie when he actually stopped to think about it.
'we should! imagine brad's face...golly, that would be one angry grunt!'
Robbie laughed, loud. Juno was the only person who could make him laugh that way. She seemed to understand him the most. He laughed more as Juno suggested to forget the health inspector, and continue to piss Brad off. "Yeah, I agree totally. But is it possible for us to piss him off even more?" Robbie said, drying his eyes. He took a look around the entrance, and turned back to face Juno. "Do you think Brad's coming back, or do you think he's given up on us completely?" Robbie laughed some more. He couldn't remember the last time he had laughed this much. He took in a deep breath to calm himself down, and gently slapped Juno's leg in a friendly, comical kind of way. Robbie stuck his tongue out again, leaned back on the couch and took some time out to relax.
