[/blockquote][/blockquote]ellie walked defiantly past the canteen, straight into the patient lounge, ignoring the smells of food that drifted out to her, determinded not to give in. she needed to lose weight, no matter what her therapist said, and caving in and eating would not help that at all. so instead, she held her breath until she had closed the door to the lounge safely behind her.
today she was wearing a little strappy black dress, and a pair of leopard print dolly shoes. her hair was down and quite straight, and black and white bracelets clinked against each other on her thin wrists. ellie sat down on the least battered-looking couch in the empty room, and picked up the remote for the small television. she flicked through a few channels absentmindly, until she found a music channel playing half decent music.
when she'd woke up that morning, she'd felt suddenly full of energy, and when a song she liked came on, she jumped up from the couch and started dancing, singing along to the great escape by boys like girls. 'paper bags and plastic hearts, all our belongings in shopping carts!' she sang loudly, not caring if anyone could hear.
she wasn't a bad singer, but she wasn't fantastic either, though she'd never say that. she could keep a tune and hit the right notes, but that was about as far as it went. her dancing was made up of her bouncing around with her arms held above her head, laughing while she sang. sure, she was stuck in this shit hole, but that didn't mean she couldn't have a bit of fun while she was at it, and make the best of it.
'throw it away, forget yesterday, we'll make the great escape!' her singing increased in volume as her laughing threatened to take over.
